Drakara

The Hivemind

The dragons of Drakara are bound by an ancient, mystical hive mind, a vast telepathic network linking all dragons to their progenitor, the Dragon Mother. This connection allows dragons to communicate across great distances, share emotions, and even transfer knowledge instinctively. A dragon rider, upon forging their bond through the soul gemstone, gains partial access to this hive mind, allowing them to sense their dragon’s thoughts, emotions, and, to a limited extent, those of other dragons. However, only the Dragon Mother can fully perceive and control the hive mind, and she is said to have the power to silence, exile, or even command dragons through it. Some dragons have rejected the hive mind, becoming rogue dragons, cut off from their kin and feared by both humans and their own kind.

Ice Dragons – The Frost Drakes

Patient and highly intelligent, often serving as strategists or scholars. Prefer arctic landscapes, high mountain peaks, and glacial caverns. Ice riders excel in tactics, endurance, and controlling the battlefield.

Thunder Dragons – The Storm Serpents

Generate and unleash bolts of lightning from their bodies. Have sleek, dark scales that crackle with electricity, often streaked with bioluminescent patterns. Fast and unpredictable, they are the swiftest of all dragons. Prefer storm-laden skies, high-altitude cliffs, and open plains. Thunder riders are known for their speed, agility, and daring maneuvers.

The Dragon Mother – Velythar, the Eternal Matriarch

Velythar, the Dragon Mother, is a revered figure in Drakara, a mythical realm. She is the central nexus of the dragons’ shared consciousness, facilitating communication and learning. She is believed to be the Mother of All Dragons, descending from her three prime offspring. Velythar is also the Guardian of the Sky, ensuring balance in Drakara and preventing rogue dragons from overtaking the world. She is also a soul forger, overseeing the bonding process of dragon riders. Velythar is the Ever-Perched One, eternally watching the world, and is believed to be the First Flame, The Last Frost. She is rideless and free, never taking a rider. Velythar is neither benevolent nor cruel, but she does intervene if the dragons are threatened. She is believed to whisper in the minds of wise rulers, shaping the fate of Drakara through visions and omens.
